Frame installed in 2021; works added on an ongoing basis

Description:

The Worcester Center for Crafts (WCC) is one of the oldest craft schools in the world, and plays an important role in educating craftspersons, supporting local culture, and promoting entrepreneurship. We won a public art competition in 2021 to bring visibility to the WCC building on Sagamore Road.

We worked closely with the WCC Board of Directors to create a project that would showcase the vibrant community of artists and craftspersons connected to this important institution. Steel frames and stainless steel cables have been added to the public-facing side of the building, supporting works made by the faculty, visiting artists, artists-in-residence, and students. Over time, as works are added, the wall will serve as a living record of the WCC community. We are excited to imagine how the Growing Wall evolves in the decades to come.
